Missionaries Who Pray

  • Jan 28, 2009
  • Post a comment

There are 3 different dimensions of missions work and spiritual warfare necessary to restore the Church and to give a witness of the gospel to all the nations (Mt. 24:14).

1. Preaching (words) - This includes apostolic preaching and church planting, etc., as God's way to evangelize the lost.

2. Mercy Deeds (deeds) - This includes servant evangelism, providing food and clothing for the needy, building hospitals, orphanages and schools.

3. Intercession (prayer) - Changes the spiritual atmosphere of the region where preaching and mercy deeds are done.

Historically, the prayer side of the Great Commission has been neglected. This in turn has hindered effectiveness in our preaching. The preaching and the prayer side of the Great Harvest will soon fully come together as in the days of the early Church when "they gave themselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the Word (preaching)" (Acts 6:4). We see the result of this only 3 verses later in Acts 6:7 "Then the Word of God spread, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith."

Through the mouth of the Prophet Isaiah, the Lord spoke about His Church and defined her in a very specific way. In Isaiah 56:7, he says, "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." It is Jesus himself who uses this same prophecy about His Church in Matt. 21:13. He names His Church a "House of Prayer". This prophetic naming is in itself a promise of functioning in grace empowered prayer. Jesus is beginning to pour out a spirit of prayer (Zach. 12:10) on the Church worldwide. When all is said and done His house shall be called a "house of prayer". It won't be called a "house of evangelism", a "house of teaching", or a "house of prophecy". All those are good, necessary and desirable, but at the end of the day God Himself, through the Prophet Isaiah and again His Son, said "My house shall be called a house of prayer". What Jesus is saying is that the evangelism, teaching, prophecy etc., will come out of the praying church! This is his divine method for the Great Commission.

Thus, we've given ourselves unto this end; to restore the ministry of prayer in context to the great commission. Like missionaries who travel over seas to bring the Gospel and labor in mercy deeds, we missionaries give ourselves to prayer. We are intercessory missionaries who are laboring in the place of prayer in Kansas City, yet our prayers travel the world and effect the spiritual atmosphere of the nations bringing power to the preaching of the Word of God and anointing to the mercy deeds done in love. We are intercessory missionaries. Missionaries who pray. We love extravagantly yet live simple fulfilling the mandate of the Great Commission.

IHOP-KC Prayer Room
IHOP-KC Prayer Room
We're here in Kansas City, Missouri. Our goal is to live simple yet love extravagantly. This is the prayer room where over 500 full-time staff and a community of over 3,000 are giving themselves to work of the Kingdom out of the place of night and day prayer, 24/7. Our family is integrating into the community on several different levels. We are now on staff with TheCall directing the Elijah Revolution. We're also giving leadership to Student Ministries (the High School Jr. High expression within IHOP-KC). Autumn and Samuel are doing an internship from January to April called Intro to IHOP. We're really excited about the next season that we are entering into here in Kansas City!

3 Katz, 2 Hats & a 1 Year Old!
Guess who turned one? That's right ... you guessed it ... little Samuel John! We had his first birthday party at our house the other day with a bunch of his friends. He got lots of presents, swam in his blow-up pool, made everyone laugh and of course ate handfuls of cake :) Check out the pictures on the right to see cake all over his face.

PRAYER MISSIONARIES

At the age of 24 and 25 it seems kind of weird to say "I know what I want to do with my life", but to be honest ... we do. We have committed our lives, as prayer missionaries, to stand in the gap as intercessors for men and also to minister to God as priests. Most people think it's honorable to pray for people. Some think it's noble to pray to God. Men have written books on prayer and many pastors and leaders will agree with sermons on prayer. But few will actually pray. The bible clearly speaks about living our lives out of a place of prayer; a must for all Christians. But, Autumn and I are called by God to be priests as a vocation (not everyone is called to this). Just as in the days of old, as the Levites ministered to God night and day, 24/7, we are called to do the same. This is what's going on in Kansas City with the International House Of Prayer (IHOP). For the last 8 and 1/2 years the IHOP Missions Base has been praying night and day, 24/7 nonstop.

GETTING CONNECTED
We have met with a handful of leaders here at the IHOP Missions Base these past few weeks and we're excited that we're getting plugged in. We are going to be coming on staff as full-time worship leaders and intercessors, giving ourselves to 40+ hours a week of prayer and worship leading.
We are also going to be involved with The Luke18 Project, TheCall and IHOP Student Ministries. We believe in these ministries, and their leaders and we're excited to be a part.
If you would like to support us as prayer missionaries please let us know. We currently have $300 support raised monthly and our goal is $2,000. It's overwhelming at times to believe this could actually happen, but we know this is what God has called us to. Please pray about supporting us on a monthly basis as missionaries. We need you.

For Jesus,
Daniel, Autumn & 1 year old Samuel

The Katz Family
The Katz Family

Hello everyone! We have officially moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Life has been crazy these past couple of months with the move, but we wanted to let you know how we've been. In the future we hope to update our blog every few weeks instead of every couple months. We're sorry if it's seemed like we dropped of the face of the earth ...

WE OWN A HOME IN MISSOURI

April 1st we moved into our three bedroom two bathroom home. After looking at literally hundreds of houses for months we somehow found one. It's been completely remodeled and we feel humbled and undeserving of such a beautiful home. Not only did we get an amazing deal, but it's everything we wanted in a house. Samuel has his own room with lots of toys and his little clothes are on little hangers. God is so faithful ... even to my little wayward heart. Check out the pictures.

CHEESECAKE!
We didn't want to jump into ministry until we got settled in our home and got our life together so Daniel got a job. He's a server at The Cheesecake Factory. It was the Lord who opened the door because he just walked in and got the job while they see 1000 applications a week.

OUR HOUSE IS PUT TOGETHER ... NOW WHAT?

Pretty much the whole month of April we were putting together our house. From painting and decorating to unpacking and taking care of Samuel we had our hands full. At the end of April we had both our families come out and see us and our life out in the Midwest. We were super busy but it was so much fun.
We are now feeling ready to enter into ministry and get involved with TheCall and IHOP. We're going to meet with some leaders pretty soon and we will get a better idea of how we will fit and what we will be doing out here.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or just want to say hi. If you would like to support us financially you can send checks to 7314 Harry S. Truman Dr. Grandview, MO 64030. You can also email us at DanielandAutumn@Jhop.org. We miss you, love you and hope to see you soon!

January, February & We're Moving!

In Gat3 Recording Studio
In Gat3 Recording Studio
Greetings from South Carolina! We hope you're doing well wherever you are. These past few months have been interesting to say the least. We've experienced the highest highs and the lowest of the lows in just the first couple months of 2008. How has it been for you?

January
Kansas City-
Over the new year we stayed in Kansas City with some friends. The annual OneThing conference was amazing hosting a crowd of about 20,000. On New years eve we had a Call event. Spending the whole day fasting and praying, we were contending for breakthrough in our nation.
During the first week of January the Luke18 Project was launched. It was perfect timing for us and we were able to  support our friends in their vision. They asked us to lead worship a few times, so we did. The vision is to simply raise up leaders to plant houses of prayer all across the world. All three conferences were amazing in their own ways. Both our hearts were changed and provoked to love Jesus in a more intentional way.
Michigan-
We drove a really long way. All the way from South Carolina to central Michigan. In the middle of January, we were invited to lead worship at a conference with Steve Fry and Stacy Campbell. Its focus was bringing together the generations. We now have some new friends up there. The highlight was the first night. We worshiped late into the night after the message and God came and revealed his bridegroom heart to us all. It was our first time ever going to Michigan and it was amazing! Lots of snow and sub zero temperatures.

February
Florida-
At the beginning of the month we went down to Orlando, Florida for a Call gathering. The Bound4LIFE team invited us to stay with them down there so we went along. More fasting and more prayer. More tears and more praise. TheCall Florida was awesome. The section that struck my heart the most was the message of wholehearted devotion to Jesus. No matter how many times I hear the clarion call to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength it always sounds fresh.
The next two days were spent at Universal Studios Florida courtesy of Bound4LIFE. Thank you so much Matt and Kim! You guys are awesome!!! We were really excited because Autumn had never been there before. Our time there was so much fun. The Hulk ride and Spiderman were the best ... we took a consensus.

WE RECORDED & FREE SONG FOR YOU!
We were asked to record the old Baptist hymn "What Can Wash Away My Sins". We arranged it ourselves and put it in a minor key and it changed the whole feel of the song from praise to prayer. Gat3 Studios is where it all went down. They are awesome and we highly recommend that everyone go and record there. Bound4LIFE paid for the recording and they are giving it away for FREE in hopes that people would sing it, pray it, talk about it and give it away as well. It's all about the blood of Jesus! It's our only hope for this nation. Please download this song from their website at Bound4LIFE.com and tell everyone you know about it, that mercy would be given to this nation.

THE LONG AWAITED MOVE ...
We've been trying to sell our house and get out to Kansas City since November and it looks like it's finally going to happen. Our closing date is at the end of the month so we'll be in Kansas City in no time. There has never been so much resistance in both of our lives on one concentrated issue. The devil hates us and the enemy is real, but glory to God who opens the door that no man can shut! See you in Missouri ...

PRAYER MISSIONARIES
Our hearts desire is to be in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives, never ceasing to give Him praise and always crying out for the nations. We are trying to raise just $2,000 a month to live off from monthly support. We aren't looking for luxurious lifestyle, just enough to pay the bills and eat. If you could support us at all financially please let us know. We currently have about $400 monthly support. Please pray and consider supporting a family of missionaries. Thanks

Please check out our new photos and don't forget to download the song. Samuel is doing great at 8 months old. He rolls everywhere when he's on the floor and when he is being held he loves to bounce ... and he grabs everything. We'd love to hear from you so please email us. Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas!!!
Hello everyone! This is a near Christmas greeting from the Katz family. We hope you're doing well heading into the holiday season. Everything is great out here in Fort Mill, SC. We wanted to share with you the last couple of months and what lies ahead in the near future ...

MINISTRY NEWS
In early September we went down to the San Diego Justice House of Prayer and visited our friends Eddie and April Brown. These two people are awesome so it was great to spend a couple meals and days together. We led worship a couple of the nights and I preached on the foundation of prayer.
We also ministered with Autumn's parents, Mark and Deborah, at their fellowship Glory Mountain. It's always great to love God with family. We love you so much Mom and Dad!
At the end of the month we headed up to Los Angeles and did some ministry at a conference called The Renaissance Spirit with our dear friend, Shawn Bolz. We led worship, I spoke on a panel, and Autumn danced and painted. LA is my hometown so it was great for me to be back. We met the  Expression58 team that hosted the conference and they are amazing! We love you guys so much! Thanks for having us out there.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS

On September 30th, the day after the conference in Los Angeles, Shawn took all his guests to Disneyland! It was also Autumn's birthday which couldn't have been more perfect for her!!! She had a great 24th birthday all day and she even got to share it with little Samuel (he was three months at the time).
One event that we couldn't miss was Autumn's best friend's wedding. Robyn and Adam are now happily married and Autumn got to be right by Robyn's side as one of her bridesmaids. It was at a beautiful country club in San Diego. Congratulations you two!

RETURNING TO SOUTH CAROLINA
When we got back home in early October there were a few changes in our plans. We were going to record a CD of some music that we've written, but the finances fell through. It was a little discouraging, but hopefully it will all happen in the near future. Because of the CD falling through we decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri sooner than later. Kansas City is where theCall headquarters has relocated and we were asked to join the ministry out there. Also, the International House of Prayer (IHOP) Missions Base has linked arms with theCall. So, we'll be joining the IHOP staff as well when we move out there.

NOVEMBER - HOUSE HUNTING/HOUSE SELLING
In early November we headed out to Kansas City, Missouri, to meet with some friends and also to look for a home. After close to a week of looking for a home to buy, we fell in love with a house just five minutes from the Missions Base. After much prayer and discussion we put a contingent offer down on that house. Now all that we have to do is sell our condo in South Carolina. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be praying for our condo to sell. It's not probable that it would sell over the winter, but it's definitely possible! We need your prayers. The sooner the better.

FAMILY UPDATE
Samuel:
-Rolled over like a puppy dog for his first time today!
-Smiles all the time and occasionally laughs.
-He's now eating rice cereal for dinner.
-He sits up ... kind of.
-Learned three Christmas songs by heart!

Autumn and Daniel:
-Soon to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary on January 8th. Hey, are we still considered newly weds?
-Having fun watching each other become Mommy and Daddy.
-We've now written a considerable amount of lullabies because Samuel stops crying after he hears us sing.

Please be praying for our house to sell. We need a buyer for us to be able to move forward. Let us know if you have any needs on your end. If you want to get a hold of us you can email us at DanielandAutumn@JHOP.org. Thank you so much for being a part of our lives. You mean so much to us. We love you and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Love,
Daniel, Autumn & Samuel

Samuel Can Color!
Samuel Can Color!
Hello everyone! Hope all is with you. We're doing well out here in California. A lot has happened this past month and we want to share it with you. So ... lets get into it!

SAMUEL
Obviously the most important thing in our lives right now is our son, Samuel. So, news on him comes first. As you can see he's already learning how to color at just two months old :). He's totally healthy and alert. The latest developments with him are: He grew his eyebrows and he's beginning to smile.

HE'S MARRIED!
One of the main reasons why we came to California is to be there when Daniel's brother got married. It was an amazing day with family, friends, sushi and dancing! Congratulations Carter and Courtney! We love you.
The rest of the wedding weekend Samuel got to say hi to all his relatives especially his grandparents for the first time!

MINISTRY
While in California, one ministry that we're connected with called theCauseUSA was here. We lead worship with them in Los Angeles at Mott Auditorium and again in San Francisco in Golden Gate Park. San Francisco had an amazing turn out with about two thousand people showing up to worship and pray. It was a great time with our friends crying out to the Lord for the release of a new sound and a new move of God. On our way up to San Francisco we stopped in Fresno for a regional gathering and lead worship and Daniel preached. It was an amazing time of ministry and breakthrough in our own hearts.
On our way back down to San Diego we stopped in Santa Cruz to visit some good friends. While we were there we ministered at a home gathering and their church gathering. We had fun worshiping Jesus. Praise God for Santa Cruz!
In San Diego we teamed up with Autumn's parent's church and led worship there. It's always good to link arms and love Jesus together with her parents. We love you Mark and Deborah!

WE'RE RECORDING A CD
We have been given an amazing opportunity to record some of our songs. It looks like we'll be recording a full length disc this October. After everything is said and done our CD will probably come out late November to early December.
We couldn't be more excited about recording!

DOWNLOAD OUR SONG
We recorded a song that Autumn has written called Sound of Rain and you can download it on our myspace page. Find it at myspace.com/danielandautumn . The song will be on our new album.

LIVING BY FAITH
Like Abraham, we feel we have been sent out by the Lord. We try our very best to obey even though sometimes we don't know where we are going and sometimes we don't have all the answers (Hebrews 11:8). Right now we're completely living by faith. We did not ask for this lifestyle we only feel we're being obedient. With no income we trust God to meet all our needs. If you would pray about supporting us we would greatly appreciate it. We really need a financial breakthrough at this time in our lives. Thank you for believing in us. We love you! You can reach us at DANIEL@JHOP.ORG or AUTUMN@JHOP.ORG.

HI! I'm Samuel
HI! I'm Samuel
HELLO HELLO EVERYONE! We hope you're all doing well. Obviously we're doing amazing out here in Fort Mill with the arrival of Samuel. We want to be as faithful with this update as we possibly can. So lets take advantage of technology ... shall we?

WEIGHING IN AT ... 6 lb. 0 oz. ... "SAMUEL ... JOHN ... KATZ!"
He's here! He's here! Autumn woke up at 5am with contractions that seemed "a little different". After four hours at home we called our Midwife and she told us to come in. To our surprise we heard the words "Well, You better get to the hospital right now ... YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A BABY TODAY! ... You're six centimeters dilated!" We got to the hospital at 11:00am ... and four hours later, at 3:09pm, Samuel was born! It was the birth from heaven. Autumn didn't shed one tear, didn't need drugs and barely raised her voice. And Samuel was born with no problems ... perfectly healthy! :)
Now he's three weeks old and we're all doing great! WE STILL CAN'T BELIEVE WE HAVE A BABY! AHH!!!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING
Leading up to theCall on 7/7/07 we were involved with a 40 day prayer strike. theCall isn't just about a "one day event". It's about a lifestyle. We had an amazing time leading worship and prayer sets. Sometimes six a week.

7/7/07 theCall NASHVILLE
Over 70,000 people gathered to practically fill Titan Stadium in Nashville, TN. We hosted a solemn assembly with a day of prayer and fasting. From 10am to 10pm, in 93 degree Nashville heat, tens of thousands of people were repenting, worshiping and praying for Jesus to come to America once again. It was amazing!!! No bands or speakers were announced preceding theCall and it was trumpeted as "It's a fast not a festival". We were overwhelmed to see how many came not for a man or a band, but for God and God alone.

BACK TO CALIFORNIA!
When we flew back from California during May we were put on another flight and they gave us two free round trip tickets to use anywhere in the States. So praise God, we're flying back to California for free! We'll be there doing ministry and seeing family for a while.

WANT TO HEAR OUR SONG?
The Lord graciously hooked us up and we have recorded a song that Autumn wrote. It's called "Sound of Rain" and you can listen to and purchase it at www.myspace.com/danielandautumn. You can also listen to it here on the right. It's in the audio category. Click the pink icon. Tell us what you think.

LIVING BY FAITH
Autumn and I are completely living by faith. We believe these next couple of months are going to be the most challenging, yet by far the most rewarding. Why? Well, they have to be! God has to come through! We have no plan B and no second options. The Lord told us to live by faith very clear and we are trying to be obedient. If you would like to support us financially please let us know.

THANK YOU!
We love you all so much! Thank you for your prayers and support from the beginning to the end of this pregnancy. We know it was a great experience only because of your prayers. We hope to see some of you in California in just a few short days! If you want to get a hold of us you can email us at daniel@JHOP.org or autumn@JHOP.org.

We love you!

Martin Luther King Jr.'s Pulpit. We're still listening ...
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Pulpit. We're still listening ...

Hello everyone! We hope you are doing well. Everything is going great out here in Fort Mill, SC. Before we get into everything we just want to reiterate that our hearts are truly to stay connected with you as much as possible. And this little blog is just another way that we can make that happen. So, with that said ... let's begin ...

BABY IN A WEEK?
Yes, it's true! At our last Dr. appointment they told us that if Autumn goes into labor next week they wouldn't stop it. So, we've packed a suitcase, washed his little clothes, and set up his crib. Now we're just praying that he comes soon. If it's possible want to make it out to my brother's wedding on July 20th. So please pray with us.

GEARING UP FOR theCall
The primary focus of our whole ministry base right now is mobilizing and praying for theCall in Nashville, TN. We've rented out LP field, home of the Tennessee Titans (football team), for 7/7/07. That's less than a month away! The stadium holds 100 thousand people and we're believing God to fill it. This massive gathering in Nashville is a call to the entire nation to fast and pray and cry out to God to turn the heart of America back to Himself. There will be no fees and nothing being sold. Just 100 thousand people worshiping, repenting, fasting and calling on God.

MINISTRY & TRAVELS
Greensboro, NC
We started out this month by helping out with a High School camp up in Greensboro, NC. I preached and Autumn led worship one of the nights. I gave my testimony of being delivered from drug addiction. Rarely felt the presence of God come in such a manner to set the bound free and the hurting healed. 90% of the kids were crying, repenting and praying ... and most of these kids aren't even Christians. Four kids gave their lives to Jesus. Some  other highlights were a 100 ft. water slide, campfires, hanging out with the kids and capture the flag :).
Georgia
We can officially say that we've been to "the deep south". Autumn and I took a team down to Georgia and led worship the whole weekend for a preCall conference. On Sunday morning I preached at a church in Waycross, GA.
M.L.K. Jr.
On our way back up to South Carolina we stopped in Atlanta and visited the Martin Luther King Jr. district. Amazed at just one man's life. We prayed that God would do the same with us in His grace. Praise God for Martin ... He freed his people WORLDWIDE!
California
In the middle of May we traveled to California for two weddings. They were so unique in their own ways. Congratulations Ryan & Amy, Mike & Katie! While in Visalia, CA, Radiant Church had a 17 hour worship and prayer gathering from 7pm to 12 in the afternoon the next day. Autumn and I led a two hour set. I think i got about one hour of sleep.
Charlotte
Visited Trinity Prep. again. We led some worship and spoke to the kids.
theCall Simulcast
Autumn and I led worship for a conference/simulcast. More than six churches nationwide were involved and  GodTV, TBN and other networks broadcast the event live, and will continue to broadcast the event until 7/7/07. We played a song that Autumn had written called "Sound of Rain". GodTV alone has over 30 million viewers! It was a little overwhelming to say the least. We'll let you know when it will be played again and how you can watch it.
theCause Conference
We were both asked to speak at a conference at the end of May. We had a great time with our friends.
West Virgina
We just got back from Bluefield, WV. Autumn and I took a team up there and led worship for a preCall conference. Four times in one weekend is pretty good for a pregnant mommy! Sunday evening I preached. Everything went great! We love the people of bluefield!

LIVING BY FAITH
We're still living by faith. Obedience is what we long for and we're just trying to obey what He has called us to do. Sometimes I try to reason my way out of what He has set before us, but when I sit before Him, He still calls us to live by faith. If you'd like to support us please let us know. You can reach us at Daniel@Jhop.org or Autumn@Jhop.org.

We love you all!!!
